Description
This is a Lovecraftian piece I wrote based on the story by Ran S Cartwright. The background is essentially my version of a Necronomicon scroll, which is what the poem is about. The poem was also inspired by "The Call of Ktulu" by Metallica, who changed the spelling of Cthulhu for supposedly legal reasons...

I cross these lonely desert sands
The forbidden tome clasped in my trembling hands
The Nameless City fades in my head
Drowned out by the whispers of approaching death
I know too much, my fate is sealed
Praying someone will believe the threat is real
Know that I'm not insane by the fear in my eyes
As I traverse the wastes under darkening skies
Soon I expect to hear
The black wings that are surely drawing near
The plague demon pursues to bring death for what I've seen
I've seen too much, my fate revealed
But the truth can no longer stay concealed
Know that I'm not insane by the fear in my eyes
As I traverse the wastes under darkening skies
Storms swirling overhead, blocking out the stars
Still I'm amazed I've escaped thus far
Knowing my last memory is of something
That always was but should never be
